Penn Squall reels
« on: January 04, 2011, 08:40:11 AM »
Has anyone taken a look at the new PENN Squall reels. Looks to be the replacement for the 525GS which I think are great reels.

Phil, I was looking at these on charkbait. They are the 525's replacement. They have some 525's left for $99 and the new version for $149. No taxes, free shipping. (BE ADVISED,THERE MIGHT BE A SPONSOR HERE WHO MIGHT BE ABLE TO BEAT THAT DEAL). I was looking for a new lefty reel and went with an Avet magnetic cast control and got a free pair of Gorrilla pliers, free line, and free shipping last week.  I hope Penn does a little more lefty stuff like they used to do. They do make some quality reels, as well as some junk, but if it's like the 525, it should serve you well.

P.S.   I own close to 45 Penn reels, so my opinion might be biased.  <'((((><

I bought two of the 525GS mags for $99 each last month. The Squall's look just like the 525's. I was wondering what the difference is. They are 4 oz lighter.  Guess I need to look at one to see if I "Have to Have" another reel.

I have a almost new Avet SX Silver lefty I am thinking of putting up for sale. Only used once. Also a right handed MX silver (used more than once) I might be selling. The Avets just don't feel comfortable to me.  Weird, I know but it is what it is.  nts

Magnetic Cast ? If you decide to sell anything, this site is a great place to start. ;D

This will be my first Avet reel, wanting a lefty severly limits one's choices. I did fish with a freinds over the summer, it felt alright to me. If I had a machine shop, I'd attempt a left hand conversion on a Penn 975CSLD. <'((((><
