HELP STOP STRIPER TRAWLING
« on: February 16, 2011, 02:22:02 PM »
Guys thanks for your support, but we are still fighting and battling this issue...  Please send an email to Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commision.  I am asking each of send a letter to them.  The first battle may be lost, but fight has just begun....  they (ASMFC) can over rule NC fisheries decsion.

Please help. If this angers you, do something about it. There still may be hope.

Tina Berger is the "Public Affairs Specialist" with the ASMFC {Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission}. The ASMFC if they choose can override independent decisions made by different states. The ASMFC may very well be our best avenue to get a response. We need everyone that plans on catching any Stripers in the future to send your comments to this website:

comments@asmfc.org

Send it to the attention of Tina Berger.

Tell them where you are from and where you fish. Tell them how often you fish. Ask them to look into this for you and ask for a response.  Ask them what they are doing to protect the futures of the Striped Bass. Ask them anything you want, just don't be silent.

Thanks for all of the support from you guys in the North....

Agree Capt.  Just need to stop the needless waste, at one time I held a commercial fishing license.  There is no place for trawling for striped bass.  There are better practices that do not allow high grading and the waste the trawlers cause to the striped bass.  I am not against commercial fishing, just the sensless laws and loop holes that allows them to "high grade" their catch.
