I decided to fish  the outside of cliffwood beach today, I usually fish the inside area. 6 to 8 anglers were throwing baits out on the outside. After tossing clams for 2 hours I started throwing my Mikes plugs into the surf.  rgmn  Unforunately My line got stuck on the spinning reel "which I am not used to" And the plug was gone!. Line was snappped, No anglres caught on the outside today.  I got in thetruck and moved to my normal spot to see an angler with a nicesize bass heading home. He said He landed 3 and lost 2 but kept one. t^

I tried for another hour and a half with no luck.  Great day to be out though..  t^  I will post pics when I figure out how to use the picture tray. :P

It happens.  I would hate to tell you how many plugs I have lost.  Thank God the wife does not get on here.

I have been looking into some new guydes by Fuji the K line.  What seems to happen is that the line gets wrapped around the first guide and sometimes it comes loose and sometimes it creates a knot (wind knot) and sometimes the knot tightens and bye bye lure.

I saw video on this and it has opened my eyes to the fact that if can and does happen.  I tried to make the time this winter to try changing the stripping guide out for the new guide but that fellow procrastination just keeps getting in the way.

I still want to try this sometime this summer.

Happy Catching

Paul, could it be a particular line or is it just the guide? I heard and experienced considerable amount of wind knots with power pro but not as many with sufix 832 line. What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks Bob, that is exactly the video I was talking about.  With Power Pro the line is a lot more supple than many of the other lines so it has a tendency to whip around a lot.  Just by replacing a guide or two will give you better control in windy situations.

I was using power pro, and the wind was very strong too. I spooled up one of my reels wirh a braid made by Cortland and Im very happy with it.
