As I use the Shimano jigs, I have just about every color and size they make. You of course match the size (number of grains) to the Trevala rod.
I jig for Stripers in the fall and find that anything with silver or green (green/yellow) work.
I catch weakies on a blue/pink if I remember. To me, it is matching the size of the bait (Fall has sand eels, hopefully, in the area) so green is good.
With butterfly jigs, it is my opinion that it is more a reaction strike so technique trumps colors.
