After all the wind and rain we were finally able to out on the ocean for a day of blackfishing. Reel Ron, Ken W, Bruce, Wilson,and Dave Rounded out todays 5 man Crew.
Started of with horrible conditions breeze n swell against a Hard North current... tough to keep both anchors tight but we picked at a few fish... Shorts and a few good keepers including a 8lber. Dave also broke off a good one at the first drop.
Make a Move and its was the same...stop catch a few...shift and catch a couple bounced around slowly picking at shorts and a few keepers... couple short cod and a few keepers as well.
Our last drop was the best with a better pick at some bigger fish. Reel Ron added and 8 1/2 lber, Dave had redemption with two 7 lbers and Ken also had one over 7lbs... Fish were nice quality but ya def had to work for the bite...
They didnt come easy,Slow pick but the guys fished hard and Plucked away until we hit the boat limit.
So By days end we caught 28 Keeper size Blackfish with everyone taking home a legal limit, 2 over 8lbs and a few more over 7lbs along with 3 Keeper Cod... Plenty of short Blacks and cod to spice up the action.
Nice to see the blackfish starting to wakeup!!!
