Striped Bass fishing from Party Boat
« on: July 23, 2007, 03:11:25 PM »
Hi All,

Been lurkin around the board reading up the stuff and finally decided to register and make a thread.

I have never caught a keeper striper! I caught few here and there by accident.  I usually just fish for Fluke and blue but I wanna try striped bass fishing.

I m thinking of taking a party boat at night time out of AH to go for these bad boys, but I am clueless on the methods of catching stripers.

Can you guys fill me in on how to and what kind of rigs I need to use on a party boat for stripers?

Thanks

welcome to the site , I would use a fish finder rig w/ a 8/0 octipus or bait holder hook ,try to snag a bunker and send it down or have fresh bunker and chunk it ,this time of year bunker will work best

Good advice from Charlie Catfish.

Even if you bring your own rod and reel on a party boat, they will usually help you out with rigs and help you ctach fish. That is what they are there for.

I would probably buy a dozen or so of my own fresh bunker from bait store to bring with me just n case.

Some will also eel at night, but eels to get expnsive, especially when bluefish chop them up.

If you want to try eelin just throw some rotton bait in a killie trap and set in water over 4 ft deep and let it sit a while ,you will have free bait ,we set eel pots come fall so we never have to buy eels

nice to have you... instead of a pary boat, we have a bunch of Charter boat sponsors on this site that will gladly get you and your group into fish.  Just click on Sponsors at the top of the main page to access them, or just hang in there and wait, I am sure you will get some charter information from this post.  Once again, thanks for finally joining.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the information guys!

I am catching the fishing bug after being out of the game for about 10+ years.  I am 32 yrs old and used to fish alot when i was 14-21.  After I turned 21 fishing took the back seat to night clubs, girls and golf! ;D

In early June, couple of buddies of mine took me out on Fluking trip and I remembered how awesome fishing used to be!  I think I have gone fishing at least 2-3 times a week since then.

I don't know why, maybe because I was young back than but I never specifically fished for stripers, now I want to go for them!!  I think I am gonna head out tomorrow after work to Atlantic Highlands and take Angler for a striper trip, and ill make sure to get some circle hooks and fish finder

Check your message!

go with Octopus hook not circles..Your will probably have a itch to slam it home.. since you haven't done this! The fisherman out of the highlands is really doing well on them.. but I'm not a fan of that crew!!

Hi Mister Penguin,

Welcome and we will help you land that trophy Striper.

If you cannot get out on a buddy boat ride, think about (fairly quickly) getting on a boat like the Prowler out of your area. I am sure they will have all the gear you will need.

They are eeling on the Shrewsbury Rocks and doing well.

There are also some private charters I can recommend that are on fire with Stripers.

Welcome,

Capt. Ed
