SPEARFISH 5-22-11 Bass
« on: May 23, 2011, 12:24:11 PM »
We waited a little for the fog to lift and headed out hoping to make a few drifts for fluke.  I had picked up some fluke bait and some clams and figured we see what was around.  I anchored up and cracked clams and never had a bite.  Moved out slowly in the slop and tried a few drifts for fluke.  Only 2 shorts in the back bay, but while drifting we had a clam out and a nice 30" striper inhaled it.  I marked some fish and set back up on the anchor, but again we never got a touch on the clams.  We decided to troll for a little while and almost immediatley we picked up another 34" keeper on a stretch.  We trolled around another hour without a touch so we headed in early.
Good Luck

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.
