Mai Tai bucktails

Hey guys that use Mai Tai bucktails.. I was thinking of picking up a couple to try out.. Problem is I dont even know what they look like or where to buy em.. Can any of you guys steer me in the right direction.. Thanks..

I am not familiar with the Mai Tai bucktails.  Are they similar to the Spros?

This is what I've always known a Mai-Tai to be.  AKA Silver Bullet or Chrome Bullet.  They are a great fluke lure when used as a sinker with a bucktail teaser tied above it.  Dicks and most of the local tackle shops should have them.

They are not Mai Tai Bucktails.

Mai Tai is a local company (Toms River area).

I especially like their glow bucktails and they have 8 oz. bucktails. Cool for me.

Are they similar?  I'm going to try to find a picture of them.  I always thought a mai-tai was just another name for a silver bullet.

They are similar to Spros ...

The chrome ball was made famous by Tsunami and are now copied by many.

Ok thanks.  They actually look like a regular "striper" bucktail.  What size hooks come on them? 
By the way, as far as silver bullets, I'm pretty sure they've been around for a long time before Tsunami ever thought of making them.

Thanks ... you learn something everyday. Being that I don't/will not use a chrome ball, I appreciate that.

I do not know the hook manufacturer or sizes used but I will ask the manufacturer next time I see him.

Those don't look like the Mai-Tai bucktails we used for weakfish in the 70's in the bays behind LBI. Those lok more like what I simply call banana head jigs/bucktails.

Yeah Skip, Fisherman's Supply, Point Pleasant.
 I went there today and picked up a 4oz and a 6oz.  From what I see, Mai Tai is the name of the company that is making them.  The ones I purchased today look like they come from the same mold as the Spro.  Do-It mold company carries the same mold.  The only differnence i see between the Mai Tai and Spro is the color scheme of the paint and bucktail.  I only purchased them today because I never saw a Spro with the brown color scheme.  The names of the ones I purchased are labeled Ultra Minnow and Killer Killie.  The only difference I see between the two names is the weight.

The company is in Toms River, NJ. You can read the label they came in.

Thanks for the info Joe. I headed to Sportsman Center on 130. They did not have them, they did have some of the banana shaped bucktails but the heaviest they had was 2 oz.

Skip, if you like the spro color, get that.  They appear to be the same thing.  Last year I had luck with the white and the glow colors.

Bucktails are great just make sure you have something fluttering off the hook like squid strips, curley tails in white, or anything that will cause a motion back there.
