Fished a little bit this afternoon and caught some small bluefish around 12 or 13". Nice day.

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.

Nice job.

Were you fishing all the way at the end of the walk-way along the bulkhead between the Ferry & Heliport?

I haven't been there at all yet this season.

I do allot of snapper fishing in September by the kayak launch. Do very well on an outgoing tide. Plus as a bonus usually get at least 1 small striper per outing. Have also seen a few very small fluke taken. Those mud flats back there are good for gathering fiddler crabs for seabass/blackfish bait and turning the rock along the waterline will yield a good amount of Asian crabs.

Maybe I'll see you down there one of these days.

This time I stayed closer to the entrance. I was at the end on Wednesday and Friday and didn't even get a bite so I decided a change of scenery was in order and it worked. I still haven't caught any fluke yet this year but I usually don't really target them. My biggest last year was 17".

I've never caught a fluke there nor have I ever targeted them. I think I've only seen 3 caught all about 10"s.

Years ago, I used to fish off the Caven Point railraod pier in Jersey City and would catch nice fluke from there (in addition to nice sized bluefish & stripers) but that was way back in the early 1990's.
