Generally speaking, a 36" to 48" leader of about 40 lb test would be a good choice.  Tie a barrel swivel on one end and a snap on the other to facilitate changing out your plugs.

The only difference would be I tie a fast clip to the braid and a swivel to the leader.  Most everything I use has a leader and a swivel on it.  I like the fast clip simply because of the arthritis in my hands I find it hard to open the clips.  The fast clip allows me to switch things out quickly even in cold weather.

I've actually been going a bit shorter lately with success. About 24 inches.  No other reason other than I prefer a shorter leader for casting.
I do a barrel swivel tied with a uni knot to the braid, then uni the mono to the swivel, then a swivel and fast clip at the terminal end.

I like 3 ft minimum but have been known to go up to 5ft when
fishing rocks. The longer leader makes it easier to land fish so you don't get cut up by braided line.
