Bucktails

Using a 1 oz or even 2 oz bucktail in the bay maybe  difficult to hold bottom. If you want to keep your line vertical can you add a sinker? If so how?

ive used a simple 3 way swivel before with 4 ounces of weight for sinker then just a leader and your preferred bucktail... worked for me....i have also used 3 way swivel with 2 bucktails atached via leaders

Normally I just use a heavier bucktail.  In a pinch you could slide an egg sinker on.  Unless you are fishing right behind the sod banks, in the deeper water where the current is ripping, I don't think you should need much more than 2 oz. or so.  How fast are you drifting?

The drift varies. The last time out it was 1.2 knots. Thats by the GPS. Doesn't seem like much.

What kind of line and lb test are you using?     How deep? 20 to 30lb braid will cut done line resistance over mono.    like Bob said, I would use a heavier Bucktail.

we keep a stock of 4 thru 10oz bucktails handy for just such an occasion, and wind up using them more often than not in RB/SH area. Spros are kind of the standard, but I recommend Mai Tais. They are made by hand locally and the fluke tell me they are DELICIOUS!!! I use the killer killies and the ultra minnows and they are works of art, and very durable too.

 I use 20lb braid. Water is no more than 25 deep. The area I was fishing was 12-14 ft.
