Lincoln Park Lake 7-13-11
« on: July 13, 2011, 04:24:21 PM »
Fished Lincoln Park Lake in Jersey City today. Started out with the usual nightcrawlers under a bobber. I was getting bites but wasn't able to hook up with anything. Puzzled, I kept at it and eventually found the problem. I was getting bites from little ity bity killies. I broke my record for smallest fish caught on rod and reel. I caught maybe 5 of them and gave up on the nightcrawlers. I put the killies on a bigger hook and casted out. One suspended maybe a foot under a bobber and the other on the bottom. Well fast-forward 2 and a half hours and the 2 killies are still on the hook without a bite. The one exciting part came when I saw a big fish in the shallows I thought was a bass. So I reeled in one of the killies and dropped it right in front of the fish. Well after a few seconds I realized it wasn't a bass but a carp and he completely ignored the killie. Well next time I go here it looks like I'll be bringing corn and bread instead of the nightcrawlers.

Carp can be allot of fun on light tackle .Espeacially when the water is cool ,like spring fed , then they put up an even better fight .We would bring a big can of corn and throw out a handful , to get them chew'n .Tight lines . slt

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.

Takes a lot of skill to get a hook in a fish that small. TT^
