Weakfish
« on: July 22, 2011, 07:21:56 PM »
Shared this with my camping neighbor Rod a little while ago.  Yes there are some Weakfish in the BBay.  Managed to fish a little before the storm got close, wish I could have stayed longer.  In 15 minutes we caught two fish about a12-14 in ches.  I ahve to be honest and say didn'tknow what they were, caught them on killies and gulp fluke rig.

Made a phone call and turned out to be weakfish according to my friend.  Man those fang looked sharp!  We could ahve kept them I guess  if 13" but I heard they are a little scarce so we decided to put them right back in the bay.

Caught them mid bay not far from the power plant in about 8 foot of water.
Early to bed…early to rise…fish all day…make up lies.

To fish is human,

to throw back is divine.

That's great to hear!!  Nice, quick catch.  Big teeth, but weak jaws, lol!

This is around when they used to make a pretty big showing in the Toms River and BB areas.  Here is to hoping that they are making a steady increase.

Thats great to hear!havent hear n e thing about them up in my hood yet but hoping soon!I do keep 1 or 2 but we eat them so we release more then we keep. Careful when going for them they have very weak mouths and you could easily pull ur hook and his mouth off! slow and steady wins this race! happy fishin!
