Nice sunset, new spot, no fish
« on: July 23, 2011, 12:40:09 AM »
Ran out after work to explore for a few hours before dark. Didn't expect to see any a thudction in this heat, but figured I could look around a bit. Went in about a mile north of Keansburg amusement park at what I think is Union Beach. Bucktailed for about 45 minutes with no life at all. Saw a few bunker and snagged one for the liveline, again nothing. I ended up in a school of bunker thick enough to walk on, I figured my luck was about to change. I paddled with them for 20 minutes with the liveline in the school and ran a crocodile through them the entire time, again nothing! No fish this time but found a new spot and enjoyed a nice sunset.

we fish there  and also came across those huge schools of bunker and we did the same snagged as many as we could 50 60 of them but nothing else.We when the following night and same thing tons of bunker got one livelined him and bang something hit it hard REAL hard but that was it no bunker left.As for the sunsets they are beautiful every night some just better then others. There is a hot spot right in that area if you go back where you were look for the piece of land that goes out in to the water almost like the "hook" good size bass there! fluke to not many keeper fluke tho.Good luck fishing over there and maybe ill see you out there soon

I figured the action would heat up at night but being my first time there I didn't want to find my way home in the dark.  I'll hit it again this Wed night.

i dont know if my tank will be in by then so i might not get out there till next weekend (uggg).Like i said look for the "hook" part you will most likely see surf guys there also.trust me better on the water then the beach. The bunkers show up on and off they blast theough there then go under for a bit then they resurface about 50 feet away.We have been seeing these schools for 2 weeks or so just that one slamming hit

I saw it this morning when I looked it up on Google Earth.  The spot your talking about is about 1/2 a mile north of where I was. If you see a guy in a big yellow bannana stop by and say hi.

I most certainly will i got a 17ft proline center its usally me and my woman. That spot is nice you can get some nice ones there i got 2 there last year altho i admit im not in to bass fishing, more offshore. My woman loves fluking tho.I just spend the night snaggin the bunkers for chum and bait. There is also another spot around there but i dont know if paddling there in the evening hours is a good idea unless ur like me.(LOL)I can tell you where it is if you want or just take your time at that other spot either way the fish are there just gotta work for them a bit.thats why we call it fishing not catching.
