NJ Fishing Locations , Manasquan Inlet
« on: July 31, 2007, 02:04:17 PM »
Hi all,

Well this is just the first in what should take my a while to complete.  I will be posting pictures and locations along the coast and bays for free fishing locations or almost free (parking meters).

I started out today at the Manasquan Inlet on the Point Pleasant Beach side. The fishing area is large with plenty of parking.  The boat traffic is usually heavy and today was no exception, especially with the dredge working the inlet.

There are lavatory facilities available and plenty of bait shops available.  Plus many eateries scattered about if you forgot your lunch.

Parking is by a vending machine where you punch in your parking space number and how long you intend to park and it lets you know how much to pay.  This can be either by cash or credit card.  Br aware if you pay by cash there is no change return.

All in all it is clean and is a great ares for families to fish and have fun.

Google Map type in Inlet Dr. and click Hybrid to see inlet:

Other reports will follow.

Happy Catching

Paul

That is hilarious Paul. I was there today fishing the Inlet, caught 7 shorts, 1 keeper at 17, and a sea robin in 4 hours. The 3rd picture down, that is my silver scion tc on the left hand side. HAHA. I think thats great. Didnt know i was going to be off work or i would have hopped on with Luna Sea. It was a great day to be out though. And Paul what are the chances, haha ? Take it easy

When I finish we should be able to combine them all for a shore fishing guide or something for those that like to fish from land and do not want to pay or pay a lot for fishing.

Excellent idea and job Paul.  I know something like this will take ages to complete.   t^

Hi All,

It might not take as long as you think.  One of the reasons for doing this is because of the shrinking opportunities to fish along the shores of New Jersey, weather it be oceanside or bay side.  Right now I am concentrating on the bays and estuaries.

Who knows where this may lead...

Hi PHIL,

This time of year you could catch just about anything running through there.  I would try on the incoming tide and yes braid is fine in the 20# category.  I would use a 20# leader with a fishfinder rig and this time of year clams would work the best.  Especially a couple of days after a good blow.  They will stay on the hook besides there is not much bait running yet.  I have seen birds starting to sit on small schools but nothing to speak of.

We are expected to get a good cold front come through on Friday I would try Sunday and see what happens.  If it is strong enough the clam beds will probably take a slight hit and small bass could be around picking up the scraps.

Not many places have fresh clams but I have found when nothing else is around salted are just as good.

Hope this helps.

Happy Catching

I was here on Sunday afternoon during the incoming tide, only saw one person with a fish on the hook. It was on the other side of the inlet from where the pictures were taken. I was fishing with small clam and some squid, our only option for bait was shoprite since we left SUPER later.

trying again this sunday!

Good Luck Diego.  That inlet will get crowded as the season goes on.  It is a great spot for families as there is a lot to do with in a miles radius.

We took my daughter to the boardwalk a couple weeks ago and I got to fish from the seawall for a whole 10 minutes. ::) ;D
Definitely a ton of grass (as usual).  But, at least, I managed to bucktail up one short about 14". t^

Yeah you gotta expect the weed, its sort of unavoidable there.  5hrug I find that if i use a lighter peice of lead and cast upcurrent, let the bait drift down until it is too far past me, and then simply bring it in and try again, I get more fish and less weed than if i just anchored the rig to the bottom with heavier lead.  As far as I can see, though, live bait seems to be the way to go lately .
