hurricane irene is hitting my brother in south carolina Updated 715

[Offshore Madness]

I was talking to my brother in Charleston South Carolina 5 minutes ago this is what is happening there......

Winds at 35-38 mph....gusts up to 51 mph  ......heavy rain.....loud crackling thunder...intermediate lighting strikes......flooding of low lieing areas as well as areas that have poor drainage basins....small size trees down.....Medium size limbs have fallin.......Sporadic power outages....

This is only the far outside bands of Hurricane Irene hitting him now.........

She is now a Category 2   105 mph winds with gusts up to 125. Moving North at 13 mph Still south of Outer banks N.C.

The outer bands of Hurricane Irene came ashore in charleston S.C. Wind gust up to 55 mph were recorded.. trees and branchs litter roads and yards..There is flooding.. Reports of power outages..Heavy surf and pounding waves of up to 12 feet were recorded. Ill let you know more when i find out.
