Yes, fluke certainly do feed after the sun goes down!

I've taken some of my largest fluke while fishing at night. I don't think open-water fishing results would be great, but by fishing near structure your chances of catching some fluke are very good.

Most of my nighttime fluke are taken while fishing under lights or in very shallow water. I've seen some crazy top-water fluke action too. They can also be found in good numbers on the bottom cleaning up after schools of snapper bluefish.

They love peanut bunker, bucktails, soft-plastic baits. I've even had a few large fluke smash a 6-inch plug in very shallow water.
 
I've never tried drifting for them in open water, as I feel like hard-structure areas will always attract more attention, especially at night.

Thanks for the invite MBoy, No can do. My Son is coming in from Maine that weekend from 18th to the 28th and I start my vacation week the 24th through Labor day. I will be putting a lot of hrs. on the boat during that time he is home. Diving and fishing and expermenting with Gulp. I am still learning from what everyone is saying MBoy, I'm not that bull headed not to hear what everyone is saying!

i hear very mixed things about fluke fishing at night...   I hear it isn't good most of the time.

There is a small group of avid night flukers that I know that have tremendous success, especially with large fluke.

As a SCUBA diver, I will tell you they there and do feed. I believe like most ambush feeders, when an opportunity presents itself, they take advantage of it.

Like Far26 said, it is my personal opinion that they hold closer to hard structure.

I do feel that the animal world has a sense of "night" and actually "sleep." One great example are Parrotfish. However, there are hungry critters down there, maybe not as active or as many.

Years ago (late 90's)-I was turned on to a hot night time fluke bite off the old fishing pier inside Atlantic Highlands Harbour.

Technigue was to use a 1/2 ounce lead head tipped with a 4" Fin~S (really no color preference) casted upcurrent along the shadow line created by the dock lights. You'd cast uptide & bounce it back to you. Caught some nice fluke that way. If you used an unweighed Fin~S on a worm hook you'd get schoolie bass and weakfish.

We'd usually get there around 10 PM and fish until after midnight. Back then the security guard wouldn't really hassle as provided we didn't drink, leave our garbage about and give him a few fillets. Unfortunately you're no longer allowed to fish there for various reasons.
