Took out a group yesterday for a shot at fluke and sea bass on saturday with high expectations but by days end, it was a total disappointment....
Did a drift outside sandy hook channe with only a short to show for it so we picked up anf ran south to the snags...got there and had very little marks on the sonar...after a couple of drifts on absolutely beautiful conditions and only short sea bass, we ran further south only to find the same story. Picked up and took a long ride to some offshore spots. Got there and had much more life but still just shorts....mostly 12-12 1/4 inch sea bass. Was gonna stay and drop the hook to try and get the bigger fish to come around but all of a sudden the bite titally stopped. Hit 2 more offshore spots with not much on them. Made the long run back to some porgy spots and needed 12 oz to hold.....no luck. Ran 60 miles for the guys but we couldnt put it together today....cleaner water to the east and the south of the hook.
Turned around and did a pm striper trip and had 6 bass but all just under the 28 inch mark tonight....did manage to get Dawn Carr her first ever striper tho and was happy about that.
