Looks like I'll be back soon
« on: September 13, 2011, 08:01:59 PM »
Found a 2002 Yammy HPDI 200HP low hours for a great price that has paperwork from a recent full certification, comnpression check, lower unit pressure check, the works.  All sensors and filters will be replaced when hung as well. Comes with all controls, harness, guages, etc...  After some back and forth haggling I got it for less than I was looking to spend overall.  Only hitch is it's gonna be a couple weeks to hang and rig since they're backed up on work.  I can't wait, should be back out by Striper season.   t^

good luck Mike; that motor is a good match for your boat

you may want to look into adding a 2 micron fuel filter after the 10 micron you (hopefully) already have. HPDIs are known to be extra sensitive to any fuel contamination

Thanks Warren.  I'm really really happy getting a solid HPDI.  I do have the 10 micron, and was thinking exactly what you mentioned and adding the 2 micron after it before the engine.  I'm a firm believe if trying to keep fuel filter issues OUT of the engine.  It's cheaper and just makes more sense.  Even with my older aluminum fuel tank I am pretty sure the mandated ethanol around here has cleaned off most of the varnish and run it through the old engine, so I should be ok in that sense.  And the 10 & 2 micron should catch anything that's left.  As far as fuel treatment, I have seen Stabil, Seafoam, both...all recommended.  What are some recommendations from the locals here?

I'm not sure whats best, but for 3 years I have been adding a bottle of marine formula stabile every time I fuel up. the bottle treats up to 80 gallons and I usually add 60-70 gallons every fill up. never a problem so far. also it sell for 15.00 a bottle and sams has a case (12) for 35.00.
