fishing bays from the surf/sea wall
« on: September 18, 2011, 09:47:51 AM »
Hi all,
I was looking for any info re: fishing bays (sandy hook/raritan) from the surf/sea wall. I know there are some very good piers in the area, however with kids in tow its easier to be on the beach.

The ocean side in the Hook tends to be rough(er) waves that I'd rather not deal with (undertoe etc).

Just looking for some calmer spots than the ocean surf and less hectic than the piers.
"...knowledge, is it worth such torment..."

Bro. you could go to many places and almost always catch some thing depending where you like here are some i fished or know of... im not a surf guy but i do go here and there

union beach two  or three spots there one the end of union ave pebble beach i think they call it, keyport bulk head is a great place for snappers crabs and a fluke here and there keansburg, belford down by the spy house or down by the seafood coop theres 2 places down there the blues and bunker come on strong at these spots and fluke too, as for sandy hook you can try the first or second beach area and walk across the street to the bay side, however there are strong currents so be carefully!!!! have fun and good luck, let us know how you do and where you ended up going chrz
