Irish Ayes 10/1/11
« on: October 01, 2011, 09:41:56 PM »
It's been awhile since I was last out with Capt. Joe on the Irish Ayes.  In fact, so far I've only gotten out with him one time this year, and that was way back in June.

Well, we remedied that today.  I met Joe, Andy and Pete at the dock this morning, promptly at 8am and we were off.  We headed north hoping to find something to stop and jig on, but that never happened.  No signs of any significant piscatorial activity, so out came the trolling gear.

We trolled around for a long time and caught a couple of bluefish.  While we trolled, we kept an eye on some of the charter and party boats in the area.  None seemed to be doing much better.

We eventually put away the trolling tackle and Joe started heading back down the beach.  What we finally found was diving birds and fish jumping out of the water.  I cast a MegaBait jig into the melee, got an immediate hook up and subsequent drag screaming run!  ALBIES! clp

I managed to get that and one other to the boat.  We also had a ton of small blues in the mix, which were making short work of the Tsunamis.

Anyway, we probably could have chased them for a while longer, however some nasty looking storm clouds chased us off the water and back to the safety of the marina, but that last stop definitely saved the day for us!

Back at the dock, I had the pleasure of seeing Skip (Pops Soul) and his wife Cathy.  Nice seeing you guys today. grtn

Anyway, it was great to finally get out fishing again with Joe and the boys.  Thanks for having me aboard! t^

Yeah, fifteen minutes of fame with the albies and little blues. Saved the day for sure. It's been some real sucky fishing since Irene showed her nasty face.

You are always welcome aboard Bob.  t^

I had the camera, but when the Fat Alberts are busting with rainfish flying everywhere, it's kind of hard to put down your rod and pick up a camera. ;D

Tough day Bob but the luck of the Irish always seems to come through. Good seeing you and the resr of the crew. The wife and I headed the other way on the water and out to seagirt reef were there were only a hand full of other boats I'm guessing the closeure of C Bass. anyway nothing but the skunk for us trolling and jigging  :P

You need to purchase a NJSF hat-cam.  Go to Rod's NJSF store.  He will fix you right up with one of those beauties.
Forgive your enemy but, remember the bastard's name.
