Just got off the phone with Cindy of the Sea Devil.

I spoke to her about bringing Spinning rods for casting for mahi-mahi and could we use braid on the rods.
The answer was yes we can.  t^

So my next question I have for you guys is what’s your thoughts on using a Trevala 66m spinning rod with a bait runner 3500 for the mahi?

combo will work fine.

Just personal preference on the mahi setups....I prefer mono.  As the guys who have done this before know, pulling up on a marker buoy for mahi can be chaotic (organized chaos I should say).   20 guys casting to a pot, then hooking up gets a little nuts. Line always cross and I'd rather be able to cut and retie in seconds rather than deal with braid.  Just my.02

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Rick.. Is is  my understanding that this will basically be a chunking trip with all tackle provided.. Is that correct?  yes  if people want to jig they will need to bring their own jigs..  My question is If I bring my own chunking rod.. will I be responsible for the Hooks if I loose one.  I would think no. right?

So if  you are getting a rod from them. you shouldn't have to worry about tackle..  none of us should.. I would think..

Also If you never fished for Tuna I wouldn't  worry
We will set up on the chunk.  Your bait with go in the water
and we hope a tuna will eat it : ).  The only thing I can stress to those
That never had the chance to fight a tuna.  Is its not like a big Striper. These fish won't get to the boat untill they are tired. So it is a fish against drag game.

When Eddie hooked the yellow fin on the phyliis Ann
And I could see the panic in his eyes from the screeming drag
I said. Relax. He isnt coming in  untill he's ready.

Yes it is a chunking trip so it will not include lures and rods for any other type of fishing.

This is from our contract:

“This includes rods, bait/tackle & fish cleaning services that are not include if this were an open trip”.

So that is how I understand it Rod, no need to bring tackle.
