Sandy Hook Striper report 10/26....not epic....but a solid day
« on: October 26, 2011, 06:37:25 PM »
Had Dave Kronin along with Steve and Matt aboard for some stripers. Left Highlands at 0 dark 30 armed with clams and eels. Started in sandy hook channel drifting in the dark with high hopes.....tons of marks, tons of bait  but it looked gloomy as we drifted untill slack tide without a touch. Decided to take a ride to get some current and it paid off...
1st drift Wham!....fish on....Daves first striper....on the scale @ 25.8 lbs.
Next drift matt is on...bluefish....next drift Dave again with a 30# hitting the deck...we had fish hooked up almost every single drift.....the bite died after an hour of this....made a couple moves looking for them....found them again after about 45 minutes  of looking and round 2 began with Dave again doing battle for about 10 minutes but losing this fish....again, fish on every drift....had 2 fish on at one point....
Kept us out a little late because the boys were enjoying every minute of it.
Tally was 5 keeps to 30 lbs, 8 dropped fish at least and the lonely bluefish.
Seas were calm, drift was nice...water temp 60.5 degrees fishing in 65 ft of water most of the day. The boys did a nice job today!
Thanks agaon Fellas!
