Last Nights Kayak Trip
« on: November 20, 2011, 02:44:33 AM »
Tonight myself and a good friend hit the water around 9:30 pm and had some problems right from the start with high winds from the South West.....The anchor would not hold or we kept getting hung up and the last thing you need on a kayak at midnight is a anchor snagged on the bottom.

The entire night was just hard fishing....The Bass hit the plug kind of funny....Most of the Bass we had on for seconds....and the just came off the hook.

Around 1:00 am I had enough and by this time was just so wet from the water coming over the side of the Yak....I just wanted a hot shower.

Paddled over to my friend who said.... throw the anchor again 15 min and we are out of this place.

Through the anchor....Picked up the rod and second cast....Bingo....Bass....After all the problems we had all night....I needed to keep at least one Bass for the fall season, the fish was 36" long and was caught in the Barnegate Bay.

After cleaning the fish....I wanted to see what they are feeding on....So I know for the next trip out.....You can see by the picture they are feeding on Baby Bunker....This Bass had 3 small bunker and some spearing....plus what looked like a small snapper....I think.

Hope the pictures came out OK.........

The Bass are still in the back bay.....and the fishing will continue for the next couple of weeks....I had to call another friend of mine who has been fishing the beach all week and caught just shorts.....Had to rub it in just a bit.

Happy fishing.....The night was not all that bad.

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.

Thank's Guys......Looking forward to being able to get out again this week at some point.

Being the bass are feeding on small bunker in the back bay.....The season should last well into December.

Have a great HOLIDAY........

Great effort Dave.

The bite at my bay spot seemed to die off about 2 weeks ago, but I guess I should give it another try.

Well last weekend we had great fishing with some nice fish.... Most of the fish we caught where in the teen size range up to 20 plus Pound's.

But when the bay fish are feeding on bunker....They are normally of large size Bass doing the feeding.....Why do ya think the guy's fishing the Pt. Pleasant canal in the fall throw big shad with 3-4 oz....To get down deep where the big boy's are waiting to feed.

That's one of the hardest thing's to get across to most fisherman at this time of year....If you want big Bass....Then the bay is the place.

I love fishing the surf in the fall.....But I got to tell ya....Nothing beats getting pulled around by a Big Bass in the Bay....With a yak.....Its a rush.

For those fishing with a kayak....Don't give up just yet.....We have time left.

Happy Fishing
