Yamalube 2M?
« on: August 13, 2007, 04:07:02 PM »
Thankfully the old Yammy ('92 225)is slurping fuel and oil nicely, no problems to speak of, just regular maintenance. Now it's time to re-up on the Yamalube-- anyone out there using it found a good local source? I bought 5 gal from a Yam dealer in Middletown earlier in the year but wasn't thrilled by them. Matter of fact they made it seem like I was doing them a favor by buying from them. The engine has never seen any other oil-- as prices continue to rise may need to think about going in on a 55gal drum????

Gateway marina used to sell out of a 55 gal drum.   You bring your own container and it's a little cheaper.  I don't know the price though.  They are in the Highlands, next to Bahr's Landing at the foot of the Highlands bridge.

Gateway was $26.00 per gal last year, if you brought in a Yami lube container and paid cash.... I have been using the West Marine Premium oil this year in my Yami 200 and have been doing just fine.... just don't forget to use the Ring free in the gas tank....

I don't add it every time (it is like $30/qt) but the Yamaha Ring Free is said to prevent/reduce carbon buildup inside the engine and "promote complete combustion" whatever that means. I have had no carbon-related problems in my outboards during many hours of use over the years, and also know others with similar good experiences. I run like a tankful (95 gal) of Ring Free treated gas at the maintenance ratio twice a year... so far so good.

Found the Yamalube 2M last week at D&R in Green Brook for $30/gal or the 2.5gal container for $66. Prices sure have increased (like everything...)
