Rolling Stone's Top 100 Guitarists of All Time
« on: November 23, 2011, 09:03:41 PM »
A lot of great names on this list.  But Dave Davies of the Kinks at only 91 and Joe Perry of Aerosmith at 84? :headscra:

Definitely think Joe Walsh should have been higher (no pun intended) than 54. And Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple should have cracked the top 50 as well.

Hard to pick a favorite amongst all these greats.  However, if pressed, I think Stevie Ray Vaughn would be my choice. t^

Where do your favorites rank?

Currently, I think the greatest guitarist in or near his prime is Warren Haynes.  His licks with The Allman's and Mule are just amazing.  Duane Allman was always a favorite of mine, and Derek Trucks has done a great job carrying on where he left off.  I miss Dickie Betts.  Just think, with him, Warren, and Trucks on stage they had 3 of the top 100 guitarists of all time playing on one stage.  Just amazing.

On a side note, it pisses me off as a guitarist that Kurt Cobain is on the top 100 guitarists list.  Whatever you feel about Nirvana, Cobain was a terrible, TERRIBLE, guitarist.

J Mascis ahead of Alex Lifeson? WTF, over? That's like saying Charlie Watts is a better drummer than Neil Peart...

Not a huge Rush fan, but Lifeson is waaaaay too low on that list.  Funny I don't even see Warren Haynes on that liast, jusgt a couple years ago he was 23rd.  Go figure   5hrug
