casting with braid
« on: March 28, 2007, 09:00:48 PM »
always see people talking about making the switch to braid with all the benifits and all,, but never see any1 warn about it slicing the hell outta your finger, or the possibility to do so when you cast with a spinner. basically anything with a little wieght to it.

my trick is i use the fabric waterproof bandage tape. put a couple wraps around your casting finger starting at the finger nail and wraping up the finger to the 1st joint, and overlap it so the string cannot catch on the layers upon release, and your good to go.

quick easy cheap method to save yourself a little discomfort.

p.s. dont put the tape to tight or you'll see a purple finger tip!

I always carry a roll of electric tape in my bag for this purpose

The only time I have cut my fingers with the braid is when tying a knot and I go to pull the not tight. Never had a problem casting.

I don't have a problem casting with it, my problem is tieing knots with it.  I wrap it around my hand, and at the moment, i still have open cuts from yesterday..
