Okuma Reels?

Does anyone have any experience with Okuma reels? Good, bad, indifferent?

Yes, Thats what i use on my boat. Use the 200L, 300L Conventionals And in spinning the Avenger 55,65.  For the amount of use with my customers the hold up very well.

Good quality for the money, have used them for over 8 years and only had 3 of the Malfunction.

It's a good midrange reel.  I have an Okuma spinning real that I use to throw plugs and metals.  I would have every confidence in it fighting a big cow.

I would be using them for trolling blues, bass, BFT. Will they accept braided line ok?

My spinning reel has 30 lb power pro braid.  No issues at all.  I suspect their conventionals work well with braid as well.

I have 1 convector and 3 Catalina. Good reels for the money.  The Catalina is alum. Billet frame and the convector is composite frame.  I find the  4:1 gear ratio a little slow for toggin though. They have some newer models with quicker retrieval rates you can research.

Okuma reels are OK for the money....they started out as a producer of private label reels and have been around for a long time.

I had some issues with their baitcaster Induron and an Avenger spinning reel......both issues were resolved quickly by their service dept.

Last season I purchased my very first Okuma reel recommended from a friend.  Turns out to be the BEST baitrunner I have ever owned.  Coronado 80a with 33# of drag. I also am confident that it can handle any cows with ease. I put 40# Power pro depthfinder on it.

I have used Okuma reels for years and I still do.  They are great but you have to clean them a couple times a year but that is what I have done for all my reels.

Sure can but its like an adjustable wrench whhy use it if you have a 9/16" there t^

I have a Cedros 80 spinning reel. Haven't had any problems at all. Love it.  Started out with 2 300cl conventionals and just couldn't kill them.  Okuma has had me ever since.  I'm looking to test out a Raw II spinning reel when I can find one.

I have a spinning reel ,not sure of the number ,have had it for over a long period ,but I put a cow nose ray on the beach with it .So ,yes they are good reels .

I have a back up reel and it has come through in a pinch. Went on   offshore seabass trip a while back and our friend had a high speed conventional (not sure of the model) that he said was great and bullet proof.
He blew that reel up in the morning and I can still picture the look on his face every time we said bulletproof!

I have the Makaira 30ll SEA, Mak15ll, Mak10ll and the Andros ll, great reels,5 yr. warr.
Fished for just about anything you can catch in the canyons, the Andros 5ll is a great little reel, used on the Cock Robin for stripers this year on a seeker rod 15-30lb.

i have one the pawl keeps breaking on the level wind had it fixed several times i gave up stopped using it rgmn rgmn
