FISH STIX - Last Trip of the Season - BIG Thanks to Sykk Physh
« on: January 10, 2012, 10:43:59 AM »
Well guys I just cant catch a break this year. Heres how the "last trip of the season" went.

Broke the inlet just before 7am. Beautiful and flat and cruising fast over 16 knots. Got up to Ocean Grove Pier and lost speed and rpms fast. Black smoke out of the exhaust and grey smoke FILLED the engine room. (thought boat was on fire!) Wont know the damage for a week or so. Its not looking good though. THANKS SAL CURSI - IF YOUR READING THIS, CALLLLL ME!!!

Boat US made an arrival around 9am and towed us back in. Made a call to Capt Joe G of Sykk Physh to see if he could take my charter out for togs. He was up to it and bailed me out. Big thanks again Joe.

Just as I thought I was gonna go home and get all of this crap organized, the guys begged me to come, so I did.

So, we had the Scott Allison charter on the Sykk Physh Prokat. Headed farrrrrrr north to where Joe has been catching them. First drop kinda slow, but a few keeps including an 11lb+.

Couple wiggles and drops with it all the same. Slow scratchy bite, shorts and barley picking keeps.

Last drop in the afternoon got em going a bit. Putting fish to 7lbs in the boat til the final whistle.

Ended the day with 28 keepers with MOST of them around 4-5lbs, couple 6-7s, 1 over 10 and 1 over 11lbs.

Capt Joe ended up saving the guys day, getting them out to fish. Gave them a LONG day getting back to the dock around 5:30pm or so.

Nice flat day out on the water. Thanks again for helping out Joe.

Capt Kris

That.....  Sucks...  Kris.  Did you have the boat checked out before you bought it.    Not that things can't go bad at any time...

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Look on the bright side, you didn't sink, you and your charter got to catch some fish, and you have a good friend who helped you out.
Good luck with the bad stuff.  Hope you are back in  business soon.

Did the old owner, Sal Cursi, ever call you back? Just wondering if he could shed some light on what it may have been. Or if it happened before.

Sorry to here about your trouble. I was wondering why he has not called for fuel in a long time. I don't know how well you got to know him but I would not count on to much help there. Good Luck George

That sucks Kris.  But you can't say it never happens to boaters. :P  Capt.Joe is a great guy and will help anyone out if the opportunity is at hand.  Let's hope it's a quick repair.
