I too would welcome that.  I threw back many fish last year just shy of 18".  Also, it would be very hard to discourage me from fishing but it seems they keep trying.  ;D

I'll take a 100.00 bet on the outcome of this poll smk

But if they do it --WE will get 6 fish between 17.5 to 17.9999999999999. :headscra:

OR-A yearly limit of 6 fish thud

OR-6 fish at 17.5 and a 10 day season--I.E. 1 fish a month from Feb. to Nov.  fcp

Carl In all seriousness it would be fine but 17 inch would be better and keep the season the same as last year. The reason i say this is because YOU know-more people will come home with there limit do to the the general " GENOROUSITY " of true fishermen on a boat and a lot less waste of good fish--My 0.2 Cents.

It is nice to see the larger fish being caught--BUT it is a real shame to see the carcase's of 12 to 14 inch fish in the dumpsters around some marinas. We need more real fisherman to help the LEO'S and turn in these people and we wouldn't have to worry about the regs.

?--why was there ever a 10 fish limit at 14.5

Answer--Do to our gov't-some people need to.

Even now with a 6 fish limit-and the size would equal 14 fish at 14.5

AND BTW--years ago an 18 inch fish was a doormat-guess my house grew.

That would depend on what we would have to give up to get that option. Would we have to shorten the season and miss a month of fishing days? Everyone wants to keep more fish and that's understandable, but let's not forget the consequences of keeping more fish. The total quota will be filled quicker and we will most likely have over fished the season. We will then be paying the price for it down the road (following year's quota lowered/non existent).

I'd like to see this as an option:

Keep one fish at 15-18" and three fish over 18" for a total of four fish. If you have four fish one must be at 15-18" and not all four fish over 18'.  Having three at 18+ and no 15-18" would be OK. I would also like to see no closed season because, after all, how many fish are going to be caught between October and May when the season is typically closed? Maybe a few that you would be able to keep but I don't think enough will be caught to really matter in the big scheme of things.

Fellas....the bottom line of this poll.....regardless if we have a 3 month season or more.....i want to know if the size and the bag limit is reduced....is it going to discourage you guys from taking your own boat out, jumping on a party boat or booking a charter boat during the open fluke season.... Try not to get wrapped up in the "if this happens then this is gonna happen" stuff.

Bottom line is that they will do, what the heck they want to with the BS info they use.

It was published in August 2011 that we were way under the quoata, then 2 months later we are over the quoata. That is real interesting, especially that after the Hurricane in Sept. there basicly was no more Fluke fishing in the Northern half of the state.

If they were really going to be fair about things they would split the state into a North/South zone. With the South opening earlier, than the north, and both zones would be open the same number of days.

This would allow the South to take advantage of the early Fluke they get, and the north would stay open later (as we opened later) to take advantage of our later run.

But you will never see fair, or never see them use proper data.

I am still waiting (45 years on the water) for someone in authority to ask me a question about fishing or what we have caught.

Yes Yes Yes

also a nice summer season with say a 2 fish slot limit @ 17-18"; then 6 more over 18"

for some reason the majority of my fluke are 17.9999" at least we'd get to take home 2 per man on those days....

Catching 6 fluke per person is plenty enough.  How many actually catch their limit, except for Bobber... 6 fish feeds a lot of people for a few days.  If you want more, go fishing the next day.  Actually, I would like the size to go to 17" though.  There should be more 17" fish out their since the 18" limit
Fish out of Toms River NJ.
