Radome Mounting

I will be mounting the radome for my new radar on my hardtop. The top slopes downward towards the bow but, is about an inch higher and flatter in the center and towards the back. I assume the center would be the best place?

Also, the anchor light is factory mounted at the front on a fold down post. IF it remains there it would be about 12-16 inches in front of the radome. In the down position it would not be a factor but, in the up position I am not sure how much/what interference it would cause. Does it really NEED to be moved for the few occasions that I will be out at night and need it?

Other mounting options for either the dome or light?

I would look into remounting the light in the back.  My radar definitely picks up the light and rod holders on my arch, but they're behind it so it's not so crucial.

Fred, I'm not sure that the light would interfere with the radar.. but the dome may hide the light enough from some angles to violate the "360 deg. visibility"   rule.. In this pic you can see one option.. Raymarine makes these mounts that attach to the radar base to elevate the light above the dome... this one as you can see has both the GPS antenna and anchor light..  Good luck with your install!  chrz

Thanks, guys. I think the light would still be visible. I am not going to mount it up until I get in the water and see what angle I need (thanks, IKAT). I guess while I'm out in the open I'll see if it picks up the mast or not.
