CC venting
« on: March 25, 2012, 04:25:10 PM »
There are no vents in my Console. Is there a reason for this? I want to put a couple in so it can dry out and get fresh air. Anyone see a problem with doing this? Thanks!!  slt slt slt

Maybe you don't have vents so the salt air does not eat away at your wiring and components. Have you seen vents on other boats?  I don't recall seeing any.

Haven't really looked either. It always seems damp. I will have to look around.

Try some damp rid bags you can hang them up in side see if that helps before you put vents in.

Frank,
My Maritime has no vents either. On nice days, I open up the 2 side ports. The cabin door seals fairly good but I would not say its air tight. I spray a dose of Corrosion X  t^ on my buss bars so there clean. No reason why you can't install a vent or 2. They even have the solar powered ones.

Dont waste your money at west marine.. go to Lowes and get moisture bags. There is a box box 3-4 for $10 If I remember. This is what I use in my cabin and engine room. The bags fill up with allot of water to my surprise.
