Canyon HS15 Drag Problem?
« on: April 12, 2012, 11:52:26 AM »
I have a brand new Canyon HS15 reel. When I push the drag handle all the way forward I am still able to hand feed line out.

What am I doing wrong?

Fellinger,

You need to adjust the drag in freespool using the knob first.  Forward for more drag.  Then test it and repeat until you get the desired amount of drag at strike.

Could be you got a lemon.  It happens with all brands.  Maybe just take it back where you bought it for an exchange.

I'll look at it again when I pick up the boat from the trailer shop. I got it direct from Canyon.

If you have any problems with it call Don at canyon and he will fix it. His service can't be beat.

OK, put it in free spool, tightened the knob all the way down, advanced the level all the way forward and still can pull the line out pretty easily.

Defective??

Sounding like it.
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Don messaged me back and said it needs another friction disk. He can send it to me or I send the reel back. How difficult is it to replace on my own?

Shouldn't be too difficult.  However, since it's brand new, I would send it back and let him do it.

Mine wasn't a "Problem" with the reel.  I wanted to change the drag settings on the Tony Maja Reel.  So he sent me a different size washer t^
