Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

There are other surf guys here, we just to get everyone into the habit of reporting.  Doesn't have to be specific with spots, but it would be nice to get a bit more activity in the NJSWF surf forums.

My Biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.

I haven't been out.  Too much stuff on my plate.  After this weekend, hopefully I'll get some time.

I will tell you why straight forward and up front. This has been one of the worst spring runs in recent years. the fish are north....Mass to be exact. Plain and simple. The low water and warm winter are one of many factors. NJ spring run happened in FEB and MAR when we all were catching off da beaches and rockpiles on just about every cast. Time to jump on a few charters. then do some sharking off da beach. then wait to see what the fall brings!!!!! If you want to waste your time and catch a fish (blues, skates, searobins etc) here or there by all means that's your perogative...tight linz! TBJ

I havent had much time but i got out last night. I went south to open beach land vs north to jetty land hoping the big swell would form some nice cuts and rips. Made half a dozen casts and headed back to my truck. Too much weed and debris. I hate fishing in weed and debris.

I'm really looking forward to some fluking from the surf. Standing waist deep on a bar in board shorts flipping bucks on light tackle.  Also ready to start raking calicos with the way the water temps are headed.

I have to agree with the poor surf fishing for stripers. I'm out almost every day for a little while. There have been bass for the boaters but they have rarely come into the surf zone. Best bet would be to fish bait, clams or bunker for a stray bass.Lots of little blues around for those that target them. Most surf guys that chase the bunker schools have been shut out or only have a fish or two since May 1.
