Sometimes you just get that itch and there's no relief other than to scratch it! Had the Jones on after some decent flatty action with Capt's Don Jr,Sr in the back bay. Needed to see if there was similar action on the outside. Loaded up with fresh offerings, ran solo and headed south dodging rain and parted a few fog banks. Laid up in Monmouth beach area to bunker pods getting sprayed periodically. Looked promising. Snagged a half dozen and free lined livies and a couple chunks to get harassed by bluefish leaving half baits on my hook. Gave it a solid 2hrs. Guess that evening bass bite is where its at right now.
Switched up to bottom fish. Found the flatties in 24 ft all short. Moved to the snake and dropped a solid one after a half dozen cranks. Couple of seabass kept the interest and spirits high. Worked the SH reef for a short time to no avail (too snaggy for the lone gun) headed further north on a reliable piece that produced a nice 20" and a double keeper CB on a Spro/Teaser.
Finished the day with 12 flatties only one keep and 6 Cbass keeping 4. Although water temps were 67 in most places and no noticeable temperature change on the lead. We could still use a couple of weeks of sustained heat to really get this in high gear.
No pics.
