leader should be no longer than 18 to 20"
I'm thinking the leader length should be more than 18-20". It's the distance from the lure to the teaser (on a dropoff) that should be 18-20". Another 6-12" from the teaser to the mainline.

Mine usually go something like this.....Spro swivel on the end of the braid, tie the leader to the swivel, 6-9 inched down from there a dropper loop with the teaser, and finally 18-24 inches below the teaser is a swivel/fast clip for the lure. Hope that makes sense.

So if the leader is 20" max how far up should the leader be?Oh TBJ do you know Justin IM..??yes I know Justin. for the surf I use a leader length of 18 to 20". what i mean is from the swivel or my uni knot to the lure with a teaser about 4" from swivel/uni knot. meaning the whole leader length including your teaser being no more than 18 to 20".
