6/24 bft,
« on: June 24, 2012, 06:30:56 PM »
got going at a decent time this am, and headed towards the ap. stopped short of the fleet to throw the spread out.

stuck to the edges to avoid what looked like a giant cluster, circled around here and there trying to follow some contours.

reel finally starts screaming, seachelle is up to bat this time. and brings in a bft (babyfin tuna). quick pic and swing around to retroll the same spot, got a real decent mark at 50', but didnt raise up to the baits.

continued to troll around some more, and other boats started acting really ignorant, so i turned west and started making my way back in. basically trolled from the ap to the resor in desert like conditions,, nothing around.

got past the resor to pretty much the same spot we hooked up 2 weeks earlier and found life. sea turtles, bait balls, shark finning surface, a small whale, and what i think where blue fish finning the surface, plus a pack of tuna chicks sitting around chilling. (didn't know they sat on the water)

circled, zig-zaged, and looped all over the place over several bait marks for 90 minutes,,,, notta. pulled in the spread and tried jigging, and tried bouncing a ronz, even tried to feed the ronz to a shark. what kinda shark? i dunno, a six foot kind. 5hrug

threw the spread back in and continued west, found more whales,, huge suckers too had to be every bit of 100 foot plus, but they wouldn't hold still for a pic. also in the area a bunch of tuna chicks, and marks on the bottom, zigged and zagged for all i had nothing.

south wind started to do its thing on the way back in, last 15 miles was sloppy

all in all i would say today was a success. didn't get one for the box, but did score a babyfin tuna, which is seachelle's first, and reeltime's second on the deck.

caught on a sterling tackle rainbow 18 spreader bar,, again.

 and the pics,,,,

Great report!  Nothing in the box, but not skunked and looks like it was a great day on the water.
