my crappy Thursday fishing (not) report
« on: June 28, 2012, 10:22:52 PM »
Met my godfather at the boat at 9am.  This was my last hurrah trip before surgery on Monday.  He started the boat before I got there and I noticed right away the fuel gauge was dead at empty and I knew the tank wasn't.  I touched the key and it shot right back up to 1/2 full.  Hmmmm...Figured something wasn't right with the sender wire but could live with that.  Took the boat over to Petersons and of course no one was there at the fuel dock, what else is new.

Back past my marina and under the bridge to KMB, filled it up.  Headed back out and looked down at my gauges and realized both the tach and the fuel gauge were now off.  That's odd.....and I had a feeling the engine wouldn't run without the tach and I was right, tried to throttle up and it went right to safe mode and cut the RPM's.  Turned back home, opened the helm at the dock and cut out the harness plug from the key switch and hardwired all of the wires (did this because it had a history of not making a good connection when plugged together, couple times it kept the boat from starting in the past).  Turned the key and still no tach.  Jiggled the key a bit and the tach comes on, then off, then on.  Realizing I can't go out without the engine constantly cutting to safe mode, and by this point my neck was screaming from ducking under the helm for so long, I called it a day.  My godfather says everything happens for a reason...I guess.....

Big Al, sorry for the short responses to your texts, I was pissed off and in pain.  I should have called you up first.

Next time I log in here I will probably have a titanium neck.   5hrug

GOOD LUCK WITH THE SURGERY
Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.
