6/30 -7/1 Fluke and C-Biscuits
« on: July 02, 2012, 02:59:25 PM »
Had Fluka out again this weekend after the tasty white meat.. On Sat. the crew consisted of my buddies/bandmates  Ross and "Kobes" along with my former boss, Sportmen's Center GM Tony G. Lines off at 0630.. Headed out of the bay and worked south.. 1st stop closer to the beach yielded a couple shorts, and waaay too many skates and doggies..moved out to the 40-50' rough stuff, and began a slow pick of shorts with the occasional keeper fluke and Seabass  Drift was anorexic at best all morning, and it was impossible to get the same line twice in a row.. In a classic case of being careful what you wish for, when the breeze we where wanting all morning  came on, just as incoming tide started to haul, we found ourselves going from 1.5 oz to 6 oz of weight in about 5 minutes..but the boys worked it hard all day.. eventually boxing up 7 keeper fluke to about 22" and 9-10 nice C-biscuits..Made the call to bag it a little early to catch the gate in Keansburg before the moon tide forced the closure..and snuck in a bit after 4, just as they where starting to drop it..  unfortunately, forgot the camera in the truck Sat, so no pics..  smk  .. On Sunday my buddy Jay came down with his lovely bride-to-be Sara..Shoved off at about 0700 and headed back out to the same area we had fished the day before.. Met with about identical conditions.. maybe even less movement than the prior morning.. forcing me to spend alot of time at the wheel trying to keep us over productive bottom..As tough as the conditions where, Sara and Jay where up to the task...working lite jigs /bait combos and slowly but steadily pulling fluke and seabass over the side.. Sara put on a clinic with her new pink rod all day, and gave us boys a schoolin.. landing a copious share of keepers and shorts and the pool fish of about 21-22".. Jay got to try out his new snakeskin Seeker when the afternoon drift had us grabbing for the big leads again.. and while it got a bit sporty as the drift accelerated , if you could stay on the bottom, the bite was there.. Ended the day at about 3:30 to beat the gate and the traffic..with a final body count of 8 keeper flukes, and about the same number of c-bass.. including a couple nice fat knuckleheads.. While the bite seemed a bit tougher than what we had last week, you couldn't ask for more laughs, nicer weather or better company! TT^ chrz chrz

Skippa Provie!!! Heck of a day yesterday!  Once again you didnt dissapoint and kept us on the fish all day.  Thank you very much!! Sara had a blast and the ride hone consisted of more questions about fluking and biscuit fishing then i have ever heard before. She loved it!! That new snake seeker rod you made was amazing bud. Love it!! Thank you again. I think one of these times we have to give fluka a bloody wash down with a chunk day with blues. Ya think?!?!  ;D
