LBI 7/3
« on: July 03, 2012, 09:43:56 AM »
Fished LBI this morning looking for surf fluke. Only found a nice 2lb bluefish doubleheader in 2 hours. Tons of bunker from 500 to 1000' out and they were being assaulted left and right and from the air (ospreys). Should have brought my kayak.

On another note I was jigging a small white tube ava in the suds and hooked up with a big fish but it broke me off a few seconds later. Drag was tight, the way I like it but it didn't help me today. Big ray, shark or bass I'm thinking. Hate to leave a hook sticking in whatever it was's mouth but thats fishing.

This is what I was thinking. It was total pullage to the east for about 5 seconds and then snap.

Down here in Surf City we've been smelling bunker all week with the shore breeze. Spotted not only an Osprey but also two pelican's gorging themselves. It was also way cool watching a Dolphin pod with youngsters working the bunker just past second break. Just love life down here even if i'm not fishing
