Just dont leave them too long or they may not be there when you return Aslo put a brick or a sash weight in them so the tides dont pull them out. Make sure your pots have the turtle blockers and the bio panel in t^case the GW visits you.
Commercial I've never seen a crab trap on T.V.
We used to set out dozens of collapsible traps with a piece of wacky noodle for a float. We would work down the line in a little skiff and when finished run back up to the first trap and start again. Chicken, bunker, bluefish chunks, dogfish heads, fluke racks- it didnt matter. These were the little fold up traps not the Maryland style crab pots that have restrictions like stated above. We would fill the boat with jumbos (tossing back anything less than 5" and all females) and cover a ton of ground but burnt up some fuel.

I just found places selling 12 of the net ring traps for $25. Looks like I might get 2 dozen and start cutting up the kids pool noodles. As I see it the trip might go like this. Trap, beer, drop trap. Trap, beer, drop trap.......
Hey guys thanks for the responses! I have those net style traps, just 2 metal rings with net inside, I did pretty well just with 4 of them attached to my kayak while i was anchored, but I could really only to 4 that way and was thinking about putting out 6-8 in a small area off the channel (out of the way) and then going to each one every few minutes... maybe just use a piece of these noodles I have in my garage, think this is legal and will work? Gunna use bunker and not leaving over night or anything, I'll be out there the whole time. (Btw prob gunna be under the oceanic bridge like friday evening doing this so, if you see a yellow yak and some moron in it having the time of his life, yup its me!)
