Fishing Tour from Red Bank to key Port
« on: July 22, 2012, 03:57:34 PM »
Started out in Red Back so I would be going against the Sandy Hook Traffic on RT 36 around 12 pm on the note the traffic was light east bound. 5hrugThe first photo is that spot I mentioned, on Pass the butter slt Not that many people for a Sunday. Not much English being spoken today, but nice quite people. I walked around checking what was happening . everyone had crabs  clp using mostly hand lines and I found the to be the best for taht spot  cfzd seemed no cared about 4 1/2 Inches. but most were of size and better. fcp The photos self explain  t^ next stop Belford public dock by the Ferry terminal . The crabbing was also good but not like Red Bank. next Spy House Pier Port Monmouth very quite no crabs but there never are that many Snappers were 6-7 Inches, but the people fishing for them had no clue with the rigs I saw. Next stop Port Monmouth Cove inlet Snappers 6-7 many over the limit catches  fcp Cast netters getting Peanuts and snappers no Mullet yet  5hrug, A good catch of Fluke again from 12 inches to say 20 in the coolers again no Idea of size or limits, The guys over at the cleaning tables in the Marina  had Fluke an Blues from what I could see. A lot of scraps for the Crabs to grow big clp Next stop Union Beach no parking every spot taken $$$$$$$.  :headscra: even the east fishermen's Lot Packed free parking clp  so I passed thou Key Port, Ramp and lots Packed. what a zoo fcp No one Nadda One was fishing the new walk way,  :headscra: 5hrug but the pier was packed and by Ye Cottage Inn had a few. watched a few Boats next to the walk way 1/2 hour  saw one Crab that hit the cooler right away  ::) not one snapper did i see in that time, The most unfriendly people I ever met fishing are the ones i call The Mayors bunch at the Parking lot bullhead. The Sunday Flea market was doing very good as was the Fishery,  That ended the trip and Now I know where to take My grand sons tomorrow for Snappers. Got to get a few traps so they can try for some crabs, who has the best prices ( Walmart)  :'(  got to check out crabby's or Dicks
hope the photos load NOPE GOT TO DOWN SIZE THEM fcp fcp  Check back around 6pm got to make supper chrz chrz At Last never had that problem be before smk One left out it saved in PNG not JPEG
fcp smk smk smk its lost

Quiet people :headscra: you must of been going nuts fcp. Did you crab/ fish or just tour? Yeah UB is a mess on the weekends if I take my son to the beach we walk. Your not allowed to fish on the new walkway in Keyport, and the have a 2 trap pr person rule on the pier.
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

I live about a mile from that spot and I kept my boat in a marina up river from that bridge for many years.  I have taken many crabs from that area and sometimes the large ones have barnacles and the brown hairy stuff on them.  I just don't use them to cook in sauce.

Mc Coy still not for me and the sea nettles were bad there today. since you are from the area I used to launch my Kayak form Maple Cove Park and worked with the people that made it all possible. then the Mayor ^&*()  them over  and put in so called improvements like No Parking $$$$$$ it was a great spot we would launch and watch the Concerts at the Park. How things change 5hrug
