Irish Ayes 7/25/12
« on: July 26, 2012, 08:44:32 AM »
Got aboard with Capt. Joe, Bob, Bob and Eddie.  We were met with a stiff wind but headed "south" to waters Capt. Joe knew held fish.

We had good action just about the entire day.  We caught around 50 fluke, with only 5 of those being keepers. We only had a dozen skates and birds caught and released.

The wind limited the number of boats out early but as the wind and seas calmed there were noticeably more boats around us. It turned out to be a beauty of a day. A fun day on water with a good group of guys.

My first trip on the Irish Ayes and hopefully not the last. Sorry for the lack of pictures… I didnt know that was part of the duties of the Rookie. Im sure that the others can chime in with more details.

It was a fun trip!  Bob G up on the bow was using smelt and squid and caught  more skates then the rest of the crew who were using mostly Gulp. Bucktail Bob jigged away and pink gulp worked best in the morning then later in the day the green and solid white gulp put many fish over the rail. t^.   The teaser proved to attract more fish today. We lost a good amount of rigs in the rough stuff too.

Thanks Capt.Joe and crew for a fun day,  good luck,, Eddie

I'm getting too run down to take pics anymore.  thud  ;D

Fun time even with the fishing being so-so. Plenty of shorts out there, just have to run across more keepers.

Thanks for posting the report Steve.  t^
