Need Help Identifying This Animal
« on: July 29, 2012, 04:50:39 PM »
Can anyone identify this creature I found in one of my garbage cans?  He's still there now and he apparently likes Taco Bell. ;D

Don't think it's a cat.  Baby coyote maybe? :headscra:

I gotta 2nd this.. Bob, I think his ears look bigger because his fur is all matted down from rolling around in whatever evil broth is in the bottom of that can  >:D But you can see the rings on his tail.. which is fully furred, ruling out opossum, and while still young and not full, ,  he has the black mask around his eyes.. and his head is much more rodent than canine.. so greatly doubt coyote.. which are usually way to shy to raid garbage cans..Add that to the fact he is in a garbage can.. which is  where suburban racoons get their mail...and you get my vote  TT^    chrz

After releasing it I agree it was a raccoon with it's fur all matted down.

Last night I wasn't so sure.  I got home from work around 11 last night.  Before going in the house I tossed my Taco Bell trash into what I thought was an empty garbage can.  Before it hit the bottom an utterly evil sound, like that of Beelzebub himself, came screaming out of it! >:D

Not wanting to tangle with the Jersey Devil in the dark, I went inside and actually forgot about it until this afternoon, when I went out to make another deposit in the can.

Anyway, my daughter and I freed little Lucifer into the empty lot across the street.  Man!  Did that garbage can stink!  (Worse than Taco Bell itself too)!  That coon must have crapped or puked or both.  Mixed with the rainwater from last night, it made it turn into a disgusting, smelly, frothy soup! thud

Thanks for the help guys. t^

Chupacobra had to be if he was eating mexican.
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Sorry  pawle, you can't win them all.  I did have an opossum in my yard that gave birth in a woodpile from my demolished shed a couple years ago.  Those things are creepy too.  Especially with babies hanging on them. :P

And yes Rick.  I wouldn't have been surprised if that coon looked up at me and said, "Yo quiero Taco Bell!"

Well, I might have been a little surprised.  ;D
