With the forecast iffy this weekend I decided it implement “Operation Hooky Friday” from work. My buddy Bob and I jumped on my boat and we’re out on the water by 6:30 this morning. My first stop was a flukie lump to the south of the inlet and on the first drift bang I put a nice18 ½ incher in the box. A couple more drift and some shorts and 1 small bluefish (bait). The wind died so we took a ride to a seabass spot that usually holds some keepers and today they didn’t disappoint. We worked the seabass while the wind was dead putting some meat in the box. I hook something with some shoulders and I’m thinking maybe a bigger blue. It’s pulling some drag and swimming away from the boat. I finally get it up and holy cow it's a big trigger fish. Not that I have caught a lot of them but this guy looked big to me. Into the box he went. The wind started to pick up again and it’s back to bucktailing in the rough stuff to the south. I ended up with and 18 ½, 20 , 22 incher , some seabass and a trigger for the day. Wind was mostly south today 10 ~ 12 knots with a south swell 3 feet with a occasional mini tsunami thrown in.
