Raritan Bay 8/11
« on: August 11, 2012, 08:50:28 PM »
Got out today with my Uncle and Cousin.  We left the dock around 8:30 with plans to run out to the hook from this weeks reports.   Checked the weather early and had some storms rolling by to the West so we stayed local.  Fished the triangle for nada.   A decent drift at 1.3, but couldn't get a bite.  Lucked out and missed the storms so off we went for better fishing.   Setup just to the North of the hook and immediately started catching fish.   Lots of fish action.  Mainly shorts.  Stayed out for what turned out to be a beautiful day.   Ended with 2 keepers, 19 and 18.   Fished Killies.   Dragging bait on fluke rigs worked better than bucktails, though they both caught fish.

Most of the action was on the incoming though it seemed the like bite turned off about an hour before high tide.

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

Two fish in the box, that's a Fluke sandwich for everyone onboard. Better than all shorts. t^
I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><
