This weekend will start off wet with rain and thunderstorms starting on Friday with the approaching cold front and ending sometime Saturday, likely in the afternoon.  Rain will likely be widespread on Saturday moving just ahead of the front.  Sunday will be much drier and sunnier with just a slight chance of scattered or isolated rain and/or thunderstorms.  The front will bring cooler temperatures with highs in the low 80’s and even into the upper 70’s with overnight lows in the lows 60’s and even upper 50’s.  These lower temperatures will remain for most of next week. Water conditions are rated good both inshore and midshore to offshore, except for Saturday morning in southern areas from Atlantic City south.  Saturday will have higher winds and seas and Small Craft Advisories could be issued Friday through sometime on Saturday.

Tropical Storm Gordon has formed in the Atlantic to the Northeast of Bermuda.  This storm is no threat to the US at this time.  There is no other current activity at this time.

A cold front will move into the region late Friday and move offshore by Saturday afternoon.  A wave of low pressure will form along the front on Sunday, passing offshore to our southeast by Sunday Night.

Small Craft Advisories are being posted at 5PM through 1AM Saturday morning.  There is a 60% chance of rain/thunderstorms tonight and a 50% chance Saturday morning through the afternoon.  This is going to be more widespread moving in from out of the area as the cold front moves in.  The front has stalled a bit and rain/storms will not begin until later this evening and then throughout the night.  Lingering rain/storms will be scattered or isolated and end completely by Saturday afternoon, but overall the day should be nice, with cooler temps and mostly to partly sunny skies.

So the offshore storm (Gordon) will bring some choppy seas next week? I wonder what effect that will have on Fluke fishing in the ocean.

Hurricane Gordon is 2000 miles from the coast of NJ right now and moving due east.  I don't think we will see too many affects from this storm at all.  There is no reflection of any affects of Gordon in any Marine Forecasts or Forecast Discussion from the NHC, either.

Now, the current area off of Africa is the storm to be watching since the models are hinting at a East Coast Path in 10-12 days.
