Most accurate weather site?
« on: September 02, 2007, 09:42:58 PM »
Question for those of you that use the puter to check the weather forecasts and sea conditions.

Which one have you found to be the most reliable and accurate?  NOAA? Weather.com? Weather Underground?

Or do you think they are all a crap shoot? 5hrug

I was trying to do this as a poll, but I'm not sure how to do that here.

Thanks,
Bob

The use of just one system is not good. I use a series of them and make up my own mind that I derive from classes I took.

National Weather Service out of Mount Holly
http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/phi/

Buoy data
http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/rmd.shtml

NOAA's satellite:
http://www.goes.noaa.gov/g8hu.html

NOAA's Real Time Radar:
http://nowcoast.noaa.gov/

Weather Matrix is very good for info as well
http://www.weathermatrix.com/

Until Comcast took them off the regular channels here Ch 10 was good.

For lightning strikes I use as a reference only:
http://www.jacksonwx.com/nextstorm/StormVue.html

I hope this helps.  The more information you have the better to make a decision that you feel comfortable with.  Don't rely on just one input.

Happy Catching

open the window and stick you headout of it!!

if you get wet..raining.

if hair is moving like a blow dryer.. Windy

if your bad spot burn.. hot and sunny!!

if you sweat, wind and wet.. Humid with chance of heavy t-storms

if your nose is runny  and frozen.. cold no
