Whale off the tip of the Hook
« on: August 23, 2012, 04:05:43 PM »
Just got back from fluke fishing in the Sandy Hook Channel. I saw a whale that I believe to be a Minke. Did anyone else see it. What type do you think it was? It was an awesome site to see. I don't usually see them that close.

As far as the fluke go, we ended with 7 keepers. Nothing big. The biggest was about 3 1/2 pounds. Also fished Ambrose. Only 2 keepers there.

Nice trip; we saw what appeared to be a humpback in that area weeks ago, also not sure. Def. WAY bigger than anything I've ever seen alive out there....

It really makes you feel pretty insignifigant when you see something like that.

Ristori reporting it was a humpback feeding on bunker.  Report came from the Sea Hawk, I believe
