Pliers ????

 We all spend a lot of time around saltwater and I'm sure we all carry something for removing hooks out of hopefully just fish. What do you use? Do you  buy cheapy needle nose pliers and keep them coated with WD40, and throw them away at the end of the year. Do you use the long hook out pliers type of tool that have been around for years. Do you spend big money for Titanium needlenose pliers. I know I wear glasses and I paid extra money for Titanium frames which have payed off for me. I did try the Titanium coat pliers from Shimano they DID NOT hold up as hoped!
What is the way to go here guys

Hate to say it but cheap and dirty keep 2 or 3 on board buy new every year-- if you can find the spring loaded open ones I find them easier to use.

Hi Skip,
I get the Shimanos.  They last a season with WD40 and are cheap enough to replace when needed.  It's hard to spend upward of $200.00 on a pair of pliers that
a.) someone else is always using and you need to BORROW them when you need them or
b.) They get lost over the side one way or the other. 

The cheapies do just as good a job as the Rodeo Drive priced ones.  You can buy enough cheapies to last your fishing career with the $$$ you spend on the expensive ones.

I use the Lowes cheap-o needle nose. They last great and at $4.99 don't care if they are lost or rust. Plus they have nice rubber coated handles.......

Hi,

I use $1.00 pliers from Harbor Freight or Walmart and chuck them as appropriate.

I do have some fancy "stainless" ones that rust as well.

Cheap for me ...

I've got a cheap pair of Sears Companions needle nose, coated grips. They are three years old and just get rinsed with fresh water after every trip and are just like brand new. They are coated with some kind of coating that prevents corrosion that has just amazed me after hundreds for hook removals. <'((((><

Sears Craftsman needle nose. I may not have pulled out hundreds of hooks but they have lasted for years and don't look any worse than the ones in my tool box in my truck. I have seen some nice stuff in the bait shop but can't bring my self to spend that much.
